Business Spotlight: Seersucker Gypsy

We spoke with Roxie Gardner, owner of Seersuckergypsy, an eclectic shop selling locally made artwork, crafts, and gifts with a Southern flair. Seersuckergypsy also serves as a vendor marketplace, offering local entrepreneurs a place to sell their items.

How would you describe Seersuckergypsy?

"A unique local marketplace! Perfect shopping for unusual gifts and local art."

Where is it located?

"211 N. 5th Street (Across from the Center Theater and SPC Credit Union)."

How long has it been open?

"About six months."

How did it get its start?

"I have always been an entrepreneur at heart, but four years ago I started an online business selling handmade jewelry. I knew I needed more inventory to open a retail store, so I started reaching out to other artists/crafters in Hartsville. I found the perfect location downtown, then I entered and I won the first Start Up Hartsville grant. I am thankful for all the resources Hartsville offers to small businesses! (Score, Startsville, Community Foundation, Chamber, Main Street, etc.)"

How does Seersucker Gypsy add to the business community in Hartsville?

"When you walk in the store, you can feel your creative juices flowing. You are instantly inspired by all the local art and crafts. We also offer a shop for local artists to showcase their work. And the back room is where all fun happens! We host classes and parties for all ages."

What do you love about running a business in Hartsville?

"The community support!!!"

What does it offer to young professionals?

"A creative outlet & amazing shopping!"

What else should Hartsville young professionals know about your business?

"We host private parties—and speed dating is coming soon!!"
